96 Family outing in the Snow by Paintings by Norman Neasom (1915 - 2010)

Family Outing in a Snowy Landscape

Watercolour: Signed and titled verso - 1996

Image Area: 85mm x 145mm - Framed: 295mm x 350mm

Although dated 1996 the preparatory drawing for this painting was probably much earlier.

For many years the family consisted of Norman, Jessie (Norma's wife) and Gladys (Jessie's sister). Many of Norman's characters are based on real people and the likeness of the three characters especially the one on the right suggests this may be Gladys and from one of their outings in the countryside.

The family of three would often go out for a pub lunch, taking a roundabout route so that Norman could park the car and sketch his surroundings and on returning home would then replicate his ideas and thoughts into a painting
